The staff was extremely professional but kind and compassionate as well. We came for covid shots so it was very busy but so well managed. I can’t thank the ladies enough for their special kindness to my adult special needs son. They were patient and accepting. Kudos!!

Had an issue with my insurance a week before my baby was due. Was in a panic trying to get on medicaid and figure something out for my daughter to be born.
Went up there and the receptionist was very kind and helpful. When I explained my issue she pointed me to the paper applications and told me to fill one out but to also do one online. She was sympathetic and kind.
The next day (a Wednesday) I was approved for medicaid and called once more explained my issue. The lady I spoke to gave me the direct line to a woman named Joy. Told me to call her ASAP.
I called and explained my situation. I was due in a week, we had an issue with my insurance, but I totally understood if she couldn’t help right now.
She told me “I don’t usually see people ok Wednesday’s. Those are my paperwork days.”
I said that was fine. I could wait till the next day.
“Oh no you can’t, honey! You’re gonna pop!”
I chuckled a bit and she told me she could see me at the end of the day and she would get things worked out.
Get there for my appointment with her at 3 and while she didn’t call me back till about 3:05, I can’t complain about that. It wasn’t an overly long wait and she was seeing me on a day where she usually doesn’t see people.
She handled everything. Was kind and funny, and even when I felt like I wanted to cry from the stress of it all, she was understanding. She even called and remade my doctors appointment (I had canceled it since I couldn’t afford it with my insurance issue).

I will forever be in debt to her for helping us out.

The Health department isn’t perfect. There are going to be long wait times for various reasons. Just because the waiting room is empty, doesn’t mean they don’t have several people on the back. Plus, they work with a very small staff. But, every time I have been (especially when I use to get birth control through them), they have been kind and friendly. They provide a great service to the community.

Updated. Medicaid area can do some major work. Angie was absolutely disrespectful when she didn’t understand my situation, then on a separate occasion asked for my ss# while I’m sitting in the waiting room… told me to go in another room when I explained I wasn’t comfortable saying it aloud. Better ways to handle that. I had to wait a little bit but after finally chatting with someone else, I was quickly redirected in a better manner! I miss Joy but will leave 3 stars because the other Medicaid lady really did help fix the problem to the best of her ability. 🙂

Last week My wife and i went for a covid test, we got both the rapid and pcr. The lady was very nice but did not administer the pcr test correctly. We both tested negative due to this and later had a family member in close contact with us 5 days later tested positive. We truly believe we unintentionally gave it to said family member due to the incorrect test that was told incorrect by a doctor at the urgent care when we had it done correctly. We both said that didnt feel the same at all as the one we had just recieved a week prior. We were told then it wasnt done correctly.

Worst office EVER! Don’t matter if you go early to get in early to see someone so you could be at work on time or whatever time of the day.. you still would wait over an hour. The women’s staffs are snobs. They don’t care to help you. They’ll be with you when they’re ready to come out. And when they do come to you, they review and and question you in front of other people. No privacy. Lazy staffs. Rude staffs. Just ridiculous amount of waiting time. I don’t understand how an office so empty could take so long to be seen. Can’t wait to move away from this place.

I drove from Mississippi to Alabama (I have been on a work trip) to have a follow up on a surgery I had, they called to confirm my appointment, didn't call to let me know the office would just be closed. No notification whatsoever. I drove almost 3 hours, through tornadic weather to get answers to a colposcopy surgery, pap smear, and birth control ....just to come and see a sign on the door that they were closed. Unacceptable. Now I have to take off work AGAIN after missing an entire day.
