They are woefully understaffed and the therapists are burnt out . I used to come home from a session and immediately call the suicide hotline. I felt traumatized by the treatment I received there. Went there for years without improvement. One therapist would give me a printout to read while she did paperwork. She later told me they are just medication management. They didn’t have the resources for actual therapy. Her exact words.

“Therapy” lasts for maybe 15 minutes each week. No effort is made to form any sort of relationship with the patient. If they don’t see improvements after several of these short therapy sessions, they will send you to the ER at UAB or Erlanger, even if you don’t meet criteria for inpatient care. If you need to see the doctor for medication changes, it will be through a telehealth call, where you will speak with someone you’ve never met and never will again. The reason there hasn’t been any lasting improvement is due to lack of care on their part.

This place is TERRIBLE. If you run out of your medicine and have no refills left, you are flat out of luck. It's almost impossible to get an appointment with the doctor unless it's at least 8 weeks out. I've had my medicine run out 4 different times and couldn't see the doctor for two months afterward. As a result, I have experienced withdrawals from not having my medicine.

It's always overcrowded there and you often spend 3-4 hours there. It can often take 2+ hours just to get called back, and even then the wait is often significant. A lot of times the doctor isn't even there, if you have an appointment with the doctor it will often be over teleconference.... Not good!! This place is woefully understaffed and incompetent. It needs to be shut down. Stay away from this joke of a mental health center.

I waited 3 months to get an appointment. As soon as I got there the therapist said that I need to find someone else to help me. How can they make a decision in a minute. Once I told them what is going on with me she tried to dismiss anything I was saying. She told me OCD was only when someone sleeps with random people and for people who hoard things. As a abuse victim I was like WTF. Then they had the nerve to charge me $75 for talking to me for 5 minutes. Then said well I guess I can see you in a month to make a full decision. The heck with that. They wonder why some people don’t even bother to get help. It’s because of places like this and therapist that have zero compassion for others is the problem.

This place is a HORRIBLE excuse of a health care facility of any specially, specifically in terms of the Dr and lack of communication. They are very bad about letting you lapse into a period where you go without your medication for extended periods of times, some of which can start causing withdrawal symptoms within three days of not taking them. I keep telling them after each Dr visit, there is about a 3 week span from the time I'm out of medication on my last refill till the next visit with the Dr. I tell them that if I don't get something done between that time frame, it's likely I'll experience withdrawal symptoms and rebound anxiety attacks because they cannot keep my medicine scheduled properly. But after several instances of this, it is clear that they simply do not care. It is just a paycheck to them. Clock in at 8, leave at 4:30, repeat.

And the Dr. is rude. Always seems to be in s hurry, and never sees you in person. It's always over teleconference, and that just isn't any good to me. And when you are trying to explain things to her, she often cuts the teleconference off all at once, without giving you time to.give further details or ask more questions about your care. This is unacceptable. A Dr. is working for their patient, and it is their responsibility to provide the highest quality of care possible, and I just don't think I am getting that from Dr. Khusrow.

Avoid this facility at all cost in order to avoid headaches, frustration, poor quality of care, poor communication. Go somewhere else, even if it requires somewhat of a drive. So long as it is better than what is provided here at this miserable excuse of a mental health facility.

Both my son and I went there because we are having a hard time dealing with the death of a family member. They are the most uncaring individuals and do NOT belong in the field of mental health!
