Thank You Dothan Utilities for disconnecting my power. For making a choice to pay my rent, rather than be kind and show empathy for the people tall are supposed to serve. Not everyone receives tax checks and some people are struggling . All I asked was to allow me to pay on my Payday what I owed since my last check went on my rent and other expenses. Y'all don't care about the people.

Alot of games. Took weeks just to get utilities intimate my name because they wanted to sell me an app I didn't want or need. Getting utilities out of my name has been just as ridiculous, plagued with incompetent people who don't know how to do their jobs and/or just don't care about what they are doing.

Well I called and tried to start my service with them but was immediately put on hold by a woman, which is completely fine. I admittedly called 15 min. before closing time which is not cool. What is not fine is when she decided to let me sit there on the phone and listen to the conversation between her and her co-worker Jason about their weekend plans. Only to be hung up on when it turns 4:00. So honestly I can’t give a review of the product, just the customer service.

In a newly built home filled with energy efficient appliances, always being cognizant of lights left on, thermostat changes and any unnecessary usage of electricity.... Even all of that and our bill rises at a whim.
2 people in the home and no tree or lights up for Christmas and our bill goes from over $200 to over $400.
When I called to ask if we're actually being charged for what we use, I was transfered to Gina who was supremely rude for literally no reason. She offered to print out my bill and explain it but that's not what I asked and in her impatience for me to complete a sentence and, speaking quite recklessly might I add, I asked for her name and her supervisors name. She refused to give her last name...
And I want to be so clear that the nastiness was sooooo unnecessary.
She then said "Do you want to speak to my supervisor?!" This was said in a tone that indicated that she was beyond sure that her supervisor was going to be just like her.....and she was right. Katie gets on the line and doesn't want to listen to me inform her of her employee's disregard of any semblance of customer service. She actually says she doesn't need to hear any of that asks me what I need. She then proceeds to interrupt me continuously and tell me pretty much what Gina said in an even more salty tone. When I note that they aren't showing any concern for the customers, Katie stated, "It's your bill, you should be concerned about it. Not me!".
Now, is this any way for a business that is offering services to a whole city, whether we want them or not, to treat their customers who actually have valid questions?
Whether or not you like the question, you should always be willing to listen.
Katie did let slip that they added an $80 surcharge because "our electricity provider charged more for the service so we had to offset those charges".
So, that makes my original question even more significant. We are supposed to be charged for what we actually use. With the digital boxes, I don't believe that ever happens. But how are they able to arbitrarily add charges on to our bills because they want to?
And, it is very evident in this city that people are being charged according to where they live as opposed to what they use. How are people in projects going to afford $400 bills every month when they're already receiving aide?
It is WRONG what is happening in Dothan. It is WRONG that this company operates with little to no oversight. It is WRONG that they feel that they can pretty much do anything they want AND talk to the customers they serve in the worse possible way without fear of losing revenue, jobs or business of any kind.
It's time to start being more concerned about the people here as opposed to money, kick-backs and whatever else is happening that is keeping council-persons ignoring the complaints of the people. We're tired of this and answers will have to be given all the way around.
Would be nice if an investigation would be started.....

*UPDATE
They actually had to refund everyone for randomly adding an $80 charge. I reeeeeaally wish they investigate further...

Looking at the bill online is very confusing. They will shut off your water with no notice even if you are only a day late paying and won't turn it back on for hours after you pay. Try to investigate your bill thoroughly by clicking the PDF file option. I've been sitting here for hours with 3 kids and no water and i have never not paid a bill. I had no idea this was going to happen if they had given me any sort of notice I would have paid immediately I didn't even know i was late! These bullies enjoy spanking you and leaving you like this it brings them happiness.
