Owner welcoming, giving history tour of home before showing us to our room. Bring your robe, the 170 yr old house has one bathroom to share, unless you reserve a $150 room, but it is beautiful just like the entire home. |You will experience a night with no tv to distract you. Enjoy the quite, perfect getaway. |If the owner says he is going out for dinner, stay in your room so you don’t get locked out of the house for 3 1/2 hours 5:00-8:30 with your bag and Medicine in your room , we are almost 70 and needed out meds but could not get to them. We sat in our car waiting for them to come back. We were very upset , when they finally returned, they were very nonchalant about situation. We went strait to our room, bed non conducive to sleeping, they did not have air conditioner on, difficult to sleep and dogs barked all night. To top it all off, the continental breakfast that is quoted as being served in the morning, um No, it was not offered or served, not even a self serve cup of coffee and bagel, nothing. So was the house beautiful, yes.|Was the experience wonderful , no. |Would I recommend this property, only if you like your money taken for a less than romantic experience. Terrible way to spend a romantic getaway. So $131.00 later all I can say is the house was beautiful but the experience was awful.

I want to start with the hospitality of the owners.
Due to a previous engagement, they could not be present during our stay for one night. Rather than cancel our reservation, they were gracious enough to let my wife and I have they entire home to ourselves. That in itself speaks volumes to me of the gracious people they are.
As far as the home itself, it was absolutely beautifully decorated to what would have been the period of that time, as well as updates to current day. So beautiful.
If you are even close to being around the area and need a place to stay, or just want to get away, I would highly recommend this place!

This place is isolated and easy to miss on the road. However once we ignored the sat Nav we found the entrance it was amazing. On arrival when we arrived Barden was nowhere to be found, a quick call and Barden apologised and said that we were to make ourselves at home. The air conditioning was not working in the house so our accommodation was in the cedar guest quarters. This is in a small building about a hundred ft from the main house. The accommodation was excellent and with a good bathroom. When Barden arrived back he was apologetic about the house and explained that the air conditioning had packed in and was being replaced the next day. Barden took us to the house where we all had a great night with Barden. Barden took us on a tour of the house which was amazing and thar rooms are stunning. Upstairs where the air conditioning was not working it was like an oven. The next day when we woke up and went to the house for a wonderful breakfast. Barden had invited a neighbour (Deano) over and we had a fantastic time with them both. At the end of breakfast Deano invited us over for a tour of his property. If you are lucky to get an invite, take it Deano is one of life's interesting people and his stories are stuff of legend. Overall Everhope is fantastic, however, Barden and Deano were the stars.

Found Everhope on line and took a bit of a gamble as it's pretty much isolated with nearby Eutaw lacking many facilities. Everhope however is outstanding as was our very friendly and laid back host Barden whose opening words - after hello and welcome - were along the lines of 'beer or wine'. Such a gracious and entertaining host and really underlines why we love coming to this part of the states from Wales. Met some friends and neighbours too whose hospitality was equally welcoming. This is a beautiful Antebellum property, packed with character and history and we were given a full tour including 'pick your own room'. Wow. Barden is a very generous host too and so the wine, beer ans snacks just kept coming. Great breakfasts and company from fellow guests too and we'd love to come back. The only minor, and it is minor, point I'd make is that it's along way to the nearest bar or restaurant but if like us you're prepared to take wine and beer back and enjoy surroundings and great company then go for it!

I cannot say enough good things about Everhope Plantation and its owner, Barden. Located on a lovely country road just 25 minutes south of Tuscaloosa, this antebellum plantation is a very special find. Upon our arrival, Barden took us on a tour of the plantation, showing us the main house and the recently rebuilt slave quarters and other outbuildings. A wooden dance floor had just been installed on the side lawn beside the carriage house in anticipation of the arrival of a tent for this weekend's wedding. I can only imagine what a beautiful wedding venue this would make. We stayed on the second floor in a very large canopied queen bed adjacent to a private spacious bathroom complete with a claw footed bathtub. In the morning, the simple and delicious breakfast was served in the dining room. No doubt our favorite memory will be of enjoying a good cup of coffee on the rocking chairs on the vast veranda while making new friends with other guests staying at the plantation. We all agreed that we were very fortunate to have discovered this place.

Great old plantation house built in 1852. Our extended family were in the area for a funeral and Everhope made a great base of operations for us. The tranquil country setting and the outstanding hospitality of our hosts turned what might have been an ordeal into a relaxing time to share and bond.
