I got me a puppy here about 2 years ago. I adopted a Pit mix, he's so pretty and his name is Boody and hims a big boy. I adopted him when the adoption prices were $25 dollars. Their shots and getting them spayed and neutered and any other health issues at time of adoption are taken care of by the $25 fee.

I adopted Max yesterday, the staff was really helpful as well as the volunteers. The staff made sure Max was going to be set for his new home. He's been absolutely wonderful since he's entered his new home. Thank you

PLEASE do your research people out side of the strays they take in this place is terrible! A few of the workers have been super rude after we brought a cat in to surrender her kittens and they turned around and fostered are cat! We contacted them the next morning after the posted at 3 pm she was up for foster when we called they said come get here. We got there just for them to tell us they gave her away and people make mistakes and you can’t get your cat back. Don’t ever get your pets taken care of by this place

Staff was so kind and considerate. My kitten came up missing after she got out when I had someone working in my house. They let me look in the back to find her. The gentleman working with the animals, took a moment to search for her in-take. The receptionist told me to join their FB page to spread the word that she was missing and upload photos. Later that night my kitten came home.

There is a ridiculously high number of animals being surrendered or returned to the shelter by the residence of Lauderdale County. People from outside of the County will even LIE to get animals into this shelter, because they have a “no kill” reputation. This over-populates the shelter and puts the animals at risk. Combined that with a small staff, few volunteers, and a high turnover rate, and you’ve got the recipe for disaster. The sheer volume of animals in this place, makes it hard to take care of them and yes, because of that they do have to euthanize. The employees become stressed, angry and jaded, which sometimes comes out in their customer service. I think part of the problem is the lack of knowledge about the laws. County Residents are REQUIRED to CONTAIN their animals & most don’t. You can’t breed in the City Limits and there are leash laws. Residents should learn & respect the laws. Another issue is the directors lack of willingness to euthanize. She would rather over stuff the shelter & use closets as kennels than to put an animal down. This can be considered heroic or cruel, however you take it. Either way I still believe that the issues with Florence Lauderdale Animal Services are based solely on the residence and individuals who do not take responsibility for the animals that they have. The employees truly do care and want to save them all, but it looks like it’s going to be a long, endless battle in this County.

It’s like a talent show for incompetence, and every single one of them is going for the gold. A lineup of clueless faces, zero professionalism, and the customer service skills of a brick wall. If their job was to be unhelpful and annoying, they’d all be CEO by now.

Very helpful with a litter of pups that the mother had orphaned. Offered to help with fixing the mama. Great staff.
