Visited Henagar Park tonight to walk the path through to see all the beautiful Christmas trees and lights. It is one of the nicest displays around. I highly recommend checking it out. Well done, Henagar!!

Great little park! We had a blast as you can see! Equipment is in great shape, it's clean and feels safe. Covered tables are available as well for picnics, birthdays etc!

Picture this: a quaint little town nestled among rolling hills, where the air smells of earth and possibility setting aside a Federak Holiday to celebrate both our Nation's freedom and the common potato. That’s Henagar, my friend—the proud home of the Sand Mountain Potato Festival!

Of course you're wondering: "But what can a potato do and what can I do at a festival for potatos?"

Since 1983, this festival has been more than just a gathering; it’s a love letter to taters, a celebration of community, and a chance to unleash your inner spud enthusiast. So mark your calendar for July 4th, every year because we’re about to peel back the layers of fun!

Morning Glory Parade: The day kicks off with a patriotic parade that marches through town like a tuber-powered locomotive. Flags flutter, kids cheer, and the local boy scout troop hoists the American flag high. It’s like the Fourth of July and a potato sack race had a baby.

Park Shenanigans: The city park transforms into a buzzing hive of activity. Cornhole aficionados square off, volleyballs fly, and antique cars strut their stuff. Ever seen a tractor with more personality than your favorite aunt? You will here! And the kids? Oh, they’re in their element—games, giggles, and maybe a mashed-potato sculpture contest (don’t ask).

Vendor Wonderland: Crafters and food wizards descend from all corners of the Southeast. Their stalls overflow with treasures: hand-knit potato cozies, spud-shaped earrings, and—brace yourself—sweet potato funnel cakes. Yes, you read that right. It’s like Willy Wonka’s potato-themed cousin set up shop. I got in at the last minute to sell my jewelry, hats and signs. From my view (looking at hundreds of festival goers, I had the pleasure of meeting genuine and respectful folks. Everyone was having a great time and enjoying meeting and interacting with each other. And, the staff from the City of Henagar were helpful and ready to help me by reserving a space for me {just the day before 7/3/2024) and once I arrived as a vendor, find my space and get set up.) This is probably the best organized event I've ever seen in my life! Kudos to the City of Henagar for their fine job!

Toe-Tapping Tunes: The air hums with music—a glorious mishmash of Southern Gospel, twangy Country, foot-stomping Bluegrass, and the occasional modern hit. Local bands take the stage, and you? You’re sprawled in a lawn chair, sipping lemonade, and tapping your toes like a seasoned tater connoisseur.

Pavilions and Potatoes: Covered pavilions offer shade and a spot to savor your potato-inspired delights. Imagine potato salad, curly fries, and baked spuds with all the fixings. It’s a carbo-loading paradise. Meanwhile, kiddos swing in fast mode on playground equipment, fueled by starchy energy.

Fireworks Finale: As the sun dips below the hills, the sky ignites. Fireworks burst forth, painting the night with colors that’d make a rainbow jealous. It’s like the universe saying, “Hey, Henagar, you rock!” And you? You’re there, eyes wide, heart full, and maybe a little potato-scented.

Family Vibes: This fest isn’t just for grown-ups; it’s a family affair. Grandma, little Timmy, and that quirky neighbor who collects potato-shaped rocks—they’re all welcome. No age limit, no spud discrimination.

So, my fellow tater enthusiasts, grab your sun hat, pack your potato-themed picnic, and head to Henagar City Park every 4th of July. The Sand Mountain Potato Festival awaits, ready to mash your boredom and fry your worries.

By the way, Independence Day for the year 2025 will be on a Friday; so mark this on your calendar, now, and don't let another Potato Festival pass you by without a heaping serving of fun for your very own!

This is a cute little park with a walking trail, pickle ball courts and tennis courts along with the baseball fields and a sand volleyball court. Still, They managed to squeeze in an eighteen hole disc golf course. The course is well signed though we did get lost at hole fifteen.

Attended the 40th annual Potato Festival yesterday at Henagar Park, There were so many vendors it was hard to get around to all of them. Plenty of good eats, drinks, leather craft and much more. Everything was arranged very well and I saw security everywhere I looked so there was not trouble, Good family atmosphere. The band was pretty good too.

Fantastic, Well Maintained Park! A real asset to the city of Henegar. I'm visiting from Greenville, SC. I wish our big budget parks looked this nice!

Yesterday was July 4th 2019, we really enjoyed the fireworks, they gave me chills they were so good, I've been coming here since I was little, every 4th to the Sand Mountain Potato Festival, the bands were awesome, they did such a great job!!! These pictures do no justice, my camera was out of focus so come out to the next Potato Festival you will love it.

Park has plenty of amenities. Drive and parking areas need paved over. For some reason one of the parking areas was blocked off. The walking track is paved but tree roots have buckled the pavement creating dangerous hazards.
